A great start to the season
The cricket season is off to a damp, but enthusiastic start.
On day one of our cricket season at Davenies, the weather held to allow all the boys from Year 5 – 8 to enjoy a full afternoon of cricket. The new nets and artificial wicket at Beaconsfield were used by the senior boys, whilst at home soft ball games were happening on the astro, hard ball nets in the sports hall and our new artificial wicket and outdoor nets were in full use by Year 5. Visiting coach, Rich Hudson, who is the lead coach at Bucks Cricket had a session with all the Year 6 boys and he followed that by putting a dozen senior players through their paces in the new nets watched by all games staff who picked up valuable coaching tips and discussed current thinking on best practice. Two areas of coaching that we will focus on for this season and going forward are batting in straight lines and helping the boys to improve their decision making at the crease, between the wickets and in the field.
