Celebrating National Poetry Day
This week at Davenies we celebrated National Poetry Day. On Monday, boys from Years 5 and 8 helped Mr Wood in a dedicated assembly explaining why we celebrate the day and how we could get involved at school; Ryan and Ayush (above) performed a poem about autumn that Ryan had written especially. As well as writing their own poems, the boys celebrated NPD this week with a poetry hunt, searching the school site for hidden poems concealed in QR codes, and revealing them with their iPads. We are also encouraging the boys to write poems on the theme of animals and to enter them in a national competition, to win a copy of the wonderful Lost Words by Robert MacFarlane.
