Pre-Prep Buzz Writing
This year, the Pre-Prep boys were set the exciting challenge of writing an ending for this story:
Jack was lying in his bed. He couldn’t sleep and he was staring at a patch of light on his ceiling. All of a sudden he heard a noise. He listened carefully. There it was again! He slipped out of his bed, put on his dressing gown and tiptoed towards the hallway. The noise was coming from the cupboard on the landing. He slowly edged closer and closer to the door. Taking a deep breath he reached for the door handle. He pulled the door open and…
In Reception, the boys drew what happened next; in Year 1, the boys filled in a storyboard, drawing four pictures under different headings (‘first …’, ‘then …’, ‘next …’ and ‘finally…’ ) and then adding a sentence under each picture; in Year 2, the boys wrote the middle and the ending for the story, remembering, of course, to write in full sentences with capital letters and full stops!
