ACE Day at Davenies
Alternative Curricular Experience Days are designed to offer educational experiences to compliment those offered within the classroom. The Years 3-8 boys embarked on a variety of activities this week which offered plenty to view, learn, discuss, try, be wowed by and remember. Year 8 took a whistle-shop tour of culture in London visiting Tate Britain, the National Portrait Gallery and Westminster Abbey, whilst Year 7 stayed at base with industry professionals Lizzy Pebble and Lucy Gill who gave the boys an animated day of Robotics, learning to programme their own designs. Well done to Christopher Carradine and Alex Tang who were crowned winners of the Robotics challenge, completing the most number of missions.
Also travelling into London, Year 6 visited the Natural History Museum taking in its wonders and learning much from their tour, you’re never too old for a visit to the Natural History Museum! Year 5 visited the Globe Theatre and had the pleasure of a tour by an actor, were offered tips on acting and partook in an acting workshop (which they demonstrated with flair!), all in all offering the boys an excellent experience.
Year 4 & 3 went in opposite directions visiting Harry Potter UK and Hampton Court. The boys were wowed by the sets and costumes on their tour around Harry Potter whilst the Year 3 boys had a day seeped in history at Hampton Court Palace.
The success of the day was palpable with the boys absorbing their experiences and clearly gaining much from their days.
