Leavers’ Programme 2020 Underway
Each year, Year 8 embark on a programme of activities to prepare them for life beyond Davenies and over the past couple of weeks the Leavers’ Programme has been redesigned so it can be delivered digitally.
The Leavers’ Programme aims to ensure Year 8 have an enjoyable end to their time at Davenies, whilst pushing the boys out of their comfort zones, as well as encouraging them take up the chance to ‘give back’. The Programme also provides the opportunity to develop a range of key transferable skills, such as team work, leadership, research, presenting, problem solving and thinking skills, as well as preparation for senior school and life beyond Davenies.
Year 8 have already approached the programme with energy, enthusiasm and a willingness to have a go at things. They have taken part in a “Day of Selflessness”, put together an assembly for younger years, walked and raised funds for the charity Parents in Need, engaged in careers talks and debates, learnt to cook Bolognese from scratch – a key staple in most diets – and embarked on a sign language course… and there is still much more to come in the next few weeks!
