And its goodnight from him…
The week has heralded a changing of the guard; Trevor Wickens, Bursar and Clerk to the Governors for the past 15 years has retired quietly. Wednesday evening signalled his 91st and final Governors’ Meeting.
Whilst Trevor stepped down from role of Bursar two years ago and passed those duties onto Wing Commander Caroline Purdom, OBE, he retained his title of Clerk to the Governors whilst he oversaw the planning, building and commissioning of our fabulous Jubilee Building.
This was the third and final big building to have appeared on the Davenies site during his 44 terms as Bursar and/or Clerk. With customary drive, attention to detail and astute financial acumen Trevor has ensured we continue to boast excellent facilities in the Tennant, Newton and Jubilee Buildings. Indeed, in a letter to the staff upon his departure he pointed out that with the exception of Science Lab, Art and Staff Rooms, nothing is what it was or where it was when he arrived.
Whilst many parents, and indeed staff, may not have seen or worked with Trevor closely over the 2 years during the building of the Jubilee Building, those of us who have would freely acknowledge his commitment and zeal it moving Davenies forward, and all conducted with a wry sense of humour.
We thank Trevor for his years of service, that he has quite literally changed the face of the school, and wish him well in his retirement with his wife Pauline in Dorset.
