A better internet starts with you
Safer Internet Day is an event celebrated on a national scale and embraced by many schools and organisations. The week not only offers an opportunity to reinforce messages to the boys about the pitfalls of being online, but also offers our parents practical advice on how to manage their child’s interactions with the internet. Although this week’s Safer Internet Day helped to publicise the dangers of the internet, this isn’t something we should just be talking about just this week, it’s a topic that should run through our daily work and life.
This year’s theme; A better internet starts with you, was introduced in assembly, with our Digital Leaders Brody, Cooper and Declan offering a great insight of what sensible use of the internet looks like, whilst talking to their peers about being respectful to everyone when online.
Our Parent’s Internet Talk hosted on Wednesday focused on the dangers and risks associated with using the internet, what we do at Davenies to equip the boys with the tools to keep safe online and advice for parents on what can be done at home to help protect their children. There are a host of E-safety resources in the Parent area of the intranet designed to inform and advise. Additionally, parents can collect copies of Digital Parenting from the office which contains many themes from the evening presentation.
