Whether you have a child here, work or teach here or are involved in any way with the school, you are all Friends of Davenies and we thank you for your interest and support.

What is Friends of Davenies (FOD)?
It is all of us. Originally started by our President Ann Tennant over 20 years ago, FOD (a registered charity since 2016), continues to organise fun, social events, across the school. Our primary role is social, providing an excellent way to bring staff, parents and friends together in support of the school. Any money we raise during the year is divided between donations to the school and external charities.
Did you know that Davenies itself is a charity and not a profit-making organisation?
The monies we raise for the school are allocated by FOD trustees to fund projects pitched by the school, which would not be covered by school fees and which we judge will enhance the learning experience of the boys and the wider community that use the facilities at Davenies.
In the 2016/2017 academic year we raised £45,356.26!
Did you know that it is the boys, through debate in the School Council, who choose the external charities for FOD to support each year?
During the 2016/17 academic year we donated to Sparks (children’s medical research charity), South Bucks Hospice (supporting patients with life threatening diseases in Buckinghamshire) and Tiggywinkles (wildlife animal hospital).
The chosen charities for 2017/18 are:

In addition this year, the FOD Trustees are showing our support for the boys’ House Charity fundraising (which is a school initiative and separate from the charities the boys chose for FOD to support), by matching each House’s fundraising up to £500 per House.
What we do? Organise fun events!
Including the Blue Pig Cafe – bacon butty sales, Years 5 &6 discos, Halloween toffee apple sales, pantomime, race nights, quiz nights, fairs, Easter egg hunt for Pre-Prep, Giving Machine, Foreign/old coin collection… And of course the Ball and Summer Fair, alternating every two years.
What our fundraising has helped to provide so far:
Contributing towards the artificial cricket wicket; to buy the barbecues used at the summer fair and other events; to buy fun pool equipment such as large floats; Davenies mugs for match teas; kitchen equipment including mixers for the newly created boys’ kitchen; servicing of the hand bells, cricket equipment for the 2017 cricket tour to Grenada which was later donated to the local Grenadian schools and recently, two branded Gazebos for use at various school events.

FOD is a registered charity number 1167552. It is recognised by HMRC as a charity for tax purposes HMRC reference number EW67778. We have a formal written constitution approved by the Charity Commission our registration document can be viewed here Registration Certificate FOD Adopted Constitution We produce audited accounts each year to our year end of 31 August. All elected committee members are trustees of the FOD charity. You elect a new committee every year at an Annual General Meeting (AGM) in June to which you are all automatically invited. That’s another date to look out for, for the diary!
