At Davenies we encourage the boys to develop their sense of service and think about how we can help others in our local communities and beyond.
Each year the boys decide which charities they would like to support. A variety of local, national and international charities are selected via the School Council and also within each of our four Houses. The boys debate and shortlist their suggestions, finding out about new charities and prioritising their ideas. As an example, recent initiatives have supported Crisis , Alexander Jansons Foundation, Epilepsy Society and Parkinson’s UK.
Once each House has chosen its charity, the boys organise a fundraising event such as fancy dress days, cake sales, badge making or second-hand toy sales. The charities selected by the School Council are communicated to our Friends of Davenies group so that their events can support these charities throughout the year.
In addition, Davenies also supports annual campaigns such as Children in Need and Armed Forces Day, as well as local charities and humanitarian crisis appeals.
