Davenies Marathon Raises £2,103
Despite being postponed not once, but twice due to unfavourable weather conditions, the whistle finally sounded the start of the Davenies Marathon.
With a re-designed route avoiding the water-logged pitches, and costumes to rival those at the London Marathon, the boys completed their laps and distance with perseverance and determination. Collectively, they ran 83.4 miles, equivalent to over three London Marathons!
Through sponsorship and a raffle, the boys raised a total of £1,603 for Hospice UK; a truly RUNbelievable amount raised by everyone who took part! Cook House has also decided to donate £500 from Friends of Davenies directly to the South Bucks Hospice at Butterfly House in High Wycombe, the School’s local hospice. Adding the £500 match funding to the £1,603 gives Cook House a total of £2,103 raised for UK hospice care.
The two-day event exemplifies the great community spirit at Davenies and embodies the School motto: singulus pro fraternitate labourans – each striving for the good of all. Thank you to everyone who got involved, be it either running, spectating or as part of the raffle.
