Music all around
Lunchtime concert Tuesday 28 November 2017
On Tuesday we were given a feast of music by the boys in what was the largest lunchtime concert this term. For some boys, courage was the order of the day as boys stepped up to their first ever performance in our lunchtime concert series. For others it was another opportunity to perform exam pieces, music from musical theatre or music with a seasonal theme. Our Chamber Choir performed music by Mold and Elgar with real confidence – this performance was also, in a sense, a warm up for another performance later that day at the Marlow Music Festival where the boys later performed with real confidence.
Well done to all the boys involved and thanks must, as always, go to our instrumental music staff who faithfully come to support these concerts despite their heavy teaching commitments and professional work outside the school. This concert marked the end of the lunchtime concerts series for this term, but there is still much more music to come before we all depart for the Christmas break.
Marlow Music Festival – Chamber Choir Competition
The Chamber Choir worked incredibly hard on some very demanding music for this upcoming festival. All came to a head on Tuesday when the boys took the coach to the All Saints Church in Marlow where they took part in a choir competition against local schools. The boys succeeded in gaining a commended level award, a bronze medal and a mark of 85/100 (the highest score given at the competition was 88) which was an impressive result for their first ever choir competition. Well done to the boys involved.
