Whole School Notices

The Headmaster writes...

I hope you all enjoyed the Summer Concert on the Headmaster’s Lawn as much as I did.  Though I personally didn’t have a long wig or psychedelic clothing, I really enjoyed the efforts that so many went to in trying to capture the 1960s and 70’s scene.  It was a terrific concert and a very enjoyable evening.  Earlier in the day we had the Junior School Sports Day, which was also a great success and not only for the two boys who broke school records.

As I write, Year 4 is on its way home from a residential trip, the older boys are in a dress rehearsal, Year 6 boys are getting ready for their end of year party this evening, and the finishing touches are being organised for tomorrow’s summer event, “Remix”.  I hope you can make it, as it promises to be a fantastic evening.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a wonderful summer break.  Until September...

Medicines
At the moment, I have a stock of medicines in my room.  If any of them belong to your son, please come and collect them by the end of school on Thursday.  Unfortunately, any left after this date will have to be destroyed.

Miss Young writes...

Can we please support Mrs Townsend, mother of Nicholas (2MR), in her quest to collect clothes for the Chernobyl Child Lifeline charity, by sending any good quality unwanted children’s clothes, suitable for ages 10 – 12, girls or boys, to my classroom (3Y)?

The School Office writes...

Second Hand Uniform Shop
The Second Hand Uniform Shop will be open on Tuesday 6th July from 8:30 in the Sports Hall.  Please note that from September the Shop will run less often until the new building is completed.

Unnamed Lost Property
There are a number of unnamed items, including a pair of black beach/water shoes, in the School Office.  Please could they be collected by Monday 5th July?

Pre-Prep Notices

Mrs Rush writes...

May I please remind you that if you would still like to purchase a photo of your son on Sports Day, I have put all the necessary information on the Intranet.

On Tuesday we held the final Sports Club of the term.  We hope the boys all enjoyed it, we certainly feel it was a good idea inviting Year 1 boys for the first time.

We are very much looking forward to having our Pre-Prep Picnic on Wednesday, starting at 12:30.  I shall ensure the Sainsbury’s Gate is opened at 11:45 for you to start bringing in various items.  The trestle tables will be ready for you at that time on the field near the pavilion.

I would like to remind you that Pre-Prep finishes at 12:30 on Thursday: boys in Reception and Year 1 may go home from 12:00 noon.

I would like to thank all the form mums for their valiant efforts through the year, collating information from parents about what we do well, or not so well, and for organising many social functions, with the picnic next week as their finale.

There has been a bit of confusion regarding the Pre-Prep End of Term Prize Giving at 8:45 am on Thursday. This is very similar to an assembly and it does not involve parents.  We shall be giving out end of year prizes at the picnic to boys in Reception and Year 1, and at the Speech Day ceremony for Year 2 boys.

Future dates
The Year 2 Curriculum Briefing will take place on Thursday 9th September from 6:30 – 8:00 pm in the PAC.  The Year 1 Curriculum Briefing takes place on Tuesday 14th September from 6:30 – 8:00 pm in the PAC.  These meetings are very informative and give you an excellent overview of how your son will be taught, as well as what your son will be taught.

The Pre-Prep staff would like to thank you all for your support and cooperation throughout the year, and wish you all a very happy and safe summer holiday.  Good luck to all the boys in Year 2 as they leave the Pre-Prep and move into the Junior School, and good luck to our Year 2 boys who are leaving to continue their education in different schools.
