ISI Inspection - Autumn 2010
In the recent ISI Inspection of Davenies during November and December 2010, we were given the two highest marks “Good” or “Excellent” for every category. There are many positive and gratifying observations included in the report about both the boys and the staff. In addition, the Reception classes were inspected at the same time as part of the Early Years Foundation Stage. Using different terminology the Reception classes were considered to be “Outstanding” in all four categories.
The school is particularly proud that the pastoral care was considered to be outstanding, that the boys’ personal development is excellent and that the sport as well as the music were acknowledged as significant strengths. The report recognised that the boys benefit hugely from our activities programme. The teaching was considered good, with a quarter of the lessons deemed excellent. It was very pleasing, also, to read the words said about the relationships between the boys and the staff.
The report reflects a school and a staff who work very hard to give the very best education. I cannot say any more than the opening line of the main body of the text:
“Pupils are exceptionally well educated in accordance with the school’s aim of realising every boy’s full potential through high expectations and nurturing of his talents.”
