Football Tour 2008 - Germany

During the February half term, Mr Affleck and Mr Locke-Hart took nineteen enthusiastic footballers on tour to Germany. The squad was comprised mainly of first team players, although members of the second and third teams were also represented.

The tour party stayed at a 'Sporthotel’ in Grunberg, just north of Frankfurt, which was originally built for the German National Squad and so boasted impressive facilities. The rooms overlooked the training pitches and so the boys could trot out for training and to play matches whenever they needed to.

Training took place every day and two matches were played under spotlights, which was an experience in itself. The boys played with great spirit, despite the fact that the arranged fixtures involved playing against older age-groups; needless to say, they rose to the challenge, gained a lot of experience, and improved aspects of their play. They were true ambassadors for the school.
