A visit from Tom Palmer
Popular children’s author Tom Palmer visited us for the morning, spending time with our Year 3 and 4 boys. We started with a Q&A session which allowed an insight into Tom’s approach and experiences as a writer. The boys learned that the first, and most important step is to have an idea and be passionate about it. Tom also brought in some real-life World War 2 items, such as a silk map which was stitched into a pilot’s jacket in case they crash landed and chaff tape (which we found out was used to confuse the enemy’s radar) which the boys used to plan a story around. Tom certainly made his mark, as shown by the number of boys who are poring intently through his books at every given opportunity! What a great experience for the boys.
