Alternative Christingle Service 2020
Through their acting and wonderful singing, as well as perfectly-timed Handbell ringing to get all into the festive spirit, boys in the Junior School reminded us of the true meaning of Christmas with an Alternative Christingle Service for 2020.
Whilst parents and family members were unable to join Years 3 and 4 to reflect on the meaning of Advent, the boys (in their year group bubbles) performed festive favourites including Away in a Manger and a Starry Night, as well as Once in Royal David’s City, with a beautiful solo by Shayan in Year 4. The Junior Handbells rang classics Jingle Bells and Unto us a Boy is Born with poise and concentration, not missing a ring. Interspersed with humorous sketches, Year 4 introduced each section, including Poems by 3C, a scene from the Polar Express by 3F and Year 4’s The Truce, a selection of thoughts from soldiers in the trenches during World War I. Finally, as a last treat, Junior School, in their Form groups, recited each verse from The True Meaning of Christmas by By Brian K. Walters.
Congratulations to the Junior School on such a joyous occasion and we do hope parents enjoyed watching our Alternative Christingle Service for 2020.
