Drake House March for Marsden
Boys and staff in Drake House took to the streets, to their gardens, to running machines – in fact, every available opportunity for extra exercise – to undertake a virtual walk the birthplace of Sir Francis Drake in support of their chosen charity, The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
Members of Drake House were challenged to each walk, run, jog or hop an average of 6,325 steps – so that between them, as a House, they would cover the 537,665 steps, or 191 miles, between Beaconsfield and Sir Francis Drake’s birthplace of Tavistock in Devon, whilst raising money for their 2020-21 House charity, The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
Using the Strava app to calculate their total step count, and JustGiving to collect sponsorship online, over the course of seven days Drake House seized every opportunity between lessons and after school to get some extra exercise; from dragging the dog out for a really long walkies, to joining dad on his daily run, the boys’ enthusiasm was inspiring and between them, raised a historic £7,922 for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
Well done to everyone who took part!
