Davenies Tops Mangahigh Leaderboard!
Climbing 214 places to finish First out of 18,000 UK schools, Davenies is crowned Mangahigh champion!
One of Davenies’ strengths is it’s sense of community, and in order to keep such momentum going during another period of remote learning, whilst also encouraging everyone to enjoy more maths, the Maths Department launched February as Mangahigh Month and challenged boys from Years 3–8 to drive Davenies as high up the school leaderboard as possible. The aim was to get Davenies into the Top 10, and starting the month languishing in 215th place, by week two Davenies was 2nd on the schools leaderboard, and by the end of February, through a collaborative effort, the School reached poll position!
Mangahigh uses game based learning to help pupils excel at maths. Play also helps lighten moods, reduces anxiety and increases happiness – all important for wellbeing, particularly during lockdown. For the top performers in each year group each week, there was a personal message of congratulations from a Davenies teacher, and at the end of the month, the top pupils in the School received a special Mangahigh trophy. Moreover, there was the satisfaction that through teamwork, determination and enthusiasm, the boys – although physically apart – had achieved something together for the greater good of the School community.
