FoDs Bookmark 20-Year Anniversary
In celebration of their 20-year anniversary, the Friends of Davenies’ gifted each boy and all Davenies staff a bookmark to use for years to come.
The Friends of Davenies (FoDs) bring staff, parents and Friends together in support of the School through social events, fundraising and much more. Established by Ann Tennant in 2000, the FoDs was set up to provide a support network among parents and promote the sense of community that the School was founded on.
Twenty years later, the FoDs has contributed enormously to the enhancement of the boys’ learning and wellbeing; starting with a chip fryer and a heater for the old eight yard outdoor pool, the FoDs has since raised over £115,000 for items such as the rowing machines, reading pods and lighting in the PAC, to name but a few. The FoDs also support the wider community locally, nationally and globally through organising events that bring the Davenies community together and by supporting school organised events. They raise awareness of and organise charity fundraising initiatives, as well as support the charities that the boys have chosen as their House charities each year.
Undoubtedly, the strength of the Friends of Davenies lies in the network of support they provide to parents. They facilitate communication and opportunities to meet and by welcoming new parents to the school community they ensure that the success of the FoDs is sustainable.
Davenies’ motto singulus pro fraternitate laborans, which means each striving for the good of all, is exemplified in the activities of the Friends of Davenies and how they support and bring the Davenies community together. Providing a gift for all boys and staff across the School has enabled the Davenies community to reflect on the last 20 years of the Friends of Davenies and celebrate such a milestone.
