Gymnasts Tumble to Second Place in IAPS Competition
Five Davenies gymnasts use teamwork to place 2nd in first national gymnastics competition.
Connor, Archie, Jesse, Edward and Mishay, joined pupils from other prep schools across the UK at The Lady Eleanor Holles school in Hampton for the IAPS Gymnastics Competition.
The boys started on the floor ,where they performed a line routine with cartwheels, rolls, balances jumps and conditioning, with each boy remembering their routine and performing with composure. Archie scored a whopping 9.1 by keeping his legs straight and toes pointed throughout!
Next was onto the vault, where the boys had to jump through the apparatus with a solid landing. Both Archie and Connor scored 9.1 and 9.0 retrospectively out of a start value of 9.5! The youngest member of the team, Mishay, displayed much courage when he stepped up to the challenge to go against the older boys and Edward performed a new vault, which was a success.
Overall, through hard work, dedication and teamwork, the boys collectively placed 2nd in this national competition. A fantastic first experience for all five of them. Individually, Archie placed 4th overall in the country , which is highly commendable!
This was a positive experience for the boys and their first taste of a big national competition. Connor, Archie, Jesse, Edward and Mishay will continue to train and inspire future generations of gymnasts at Davenies – well done boys!
