Before & After School
A Davenies education extends beyond the normal school day. In addition to the extensive extra-curricular programme the following options for supervision and learning are available both before and after school.
Running daily from 7:45am, boys from Reception – Year 8 can enjoy a hot or cold breakfast and be occupied with quiet activities in the Dining Hall.
Content to sit and chat with one another (despite the different age group mix) or with staff, Breakfast Club generates a warm hum of bonhomie. The boys are all signed-up as members of the Breakfast Club to manage numbers, but may turn up ad hoc on any day.
Prep School boys are sent to the Astroturf to meet their classmates when they have had their fill of food, and Pre-Prep boys are taken over to their form rooms at 8:30am by our Welfare Assistant so that they can begin their day of learning at Davenies.
Flop Club is our after-school care service for boys in the Pre-Prep and is available until 6:00pm daily.
Run by fully-qualified staff, Flop Club lives up to its name as boys are given the opportunity to relax and play with a variety of activities. From Playmobil to arts and crafts, to reading, there is something to suit every boy, and we end the week with DVD Night on Friday evenings.
There is a cost involved for boys staying beyond 4:00pm. At 4:15pm a light tea of sandwiches, fruit and a drink is provided.
Prep & Late Prep
There are daily supervised Prep sessions for boys in Years 3 – 8. These take place in the library and boys can be picked up from there at any time up to 6:00pm. Boys who are doing an after-school activity may move on to Prep afterwards.
