Year 3 Light Up DT for ACE Day
For their Alternative Curriculum Experience, Year 3 enjoyed a fun-packed day in DT learning about circuits.
Exploring insulating and conductive materials, the boys used Smart materials – materials with one or more properties that can be significantly changed in a controlled fashion by external stimuli – (squishy dough) to reinforce electrical concepts and employed buzzers, fans and motors, as well as LEDs to make their model snails light up.
This exciting STEM activity develops problem solving and engineering skills whilst inspiring creativity and independent thinking.
Well done to Charlie and Ben who won one of Mrs Collins’ fantastic rubbish prizes (a recycled car tyre pencil case) for their effort and team work during the day.
