Year 7 at the cutting edge of art
For their Alternative Curricular Experience, Year 7 visited the Saatchi Gallery in Sloane Square to see the ‘Iconoclasts’ Exhibition. This was all about breaking boundaries and the deliberate destruction taking place in our society. The trip was a bid to expose the boys to some cutting edge contemporary art. The boys thoroughly enjoyed walking around the exhibition and questioning what defines a work of art.
Following this, Year 7 took part in a mixed media workshop which had to portray some kind of political message that has interested them in current affairs recently. Topics were diverse, ranging from the Grenfell Tower tragedy to women’s rights in Saudi Arabia. The trip opened up some fantastic dialogue and a great day was had by all.
