Kavi – our ‘Head For a Day’
Ever wondered what it’s like to be a Headmaster?
…Kavi was excited to be given the opportunity last Friday! He joined Mr Thomas for a range of Headmaster duties including doing gate duty, presenting the Pre-Prep Awards Assembly, meeting with the Head Boy Team, writing a piece for the newsletter (see below), reading to Year 1 and showing a prospective parent around. The day, of course, also included plenty of biscuit and juice! Here’s what Kavi thought of his day:
“First I came to the front gate and I met Mr Thomas. I got my badge and we discussed my plan for the day I started my day at the Gate and we welcomed everyone to school. After I went with Mrs Battersby to the reward Assembly and I handed out all the awards including the House and Vice-Captain badges to some Pre-Prep boys. It was really fun to give out the awards!
Then we went into a tour to show a visitor around the school. First we went to the library, then to the Pre-Prep Hall to see the Art Exhibition. Then we went into my classroom, the top dell, the astro and Swimming pool. We also saw a mysterious egg on the headmaster’s Lawn! It was really fun showing the visitor around the school!
After I had a meeting with Mr Thomas and the Deputy Head Boys, where we drank squash and had biscuits. We talked about different year groups in the school. I then went to the Pre-Prep Library and read ‘Oi dinosaurs’ to 1T, it was amazing to read to the younger boys. I then met with Mr Cooke, we walked around the school and I went to rooms I had never been to before, including the Science Lab, DT room and History room, it was very exciting to see the new rooms.
Then I met with Mr Thomas to discuss the Pre-Prep and finally I went to Reception to read them ‘The dinosaur that pooped a pirate’. To finish my day I went to do the gate duty and I shook lots of peoples hands!
Everything was the great today, and I have loved being Headmaster, especially meeting with the Deputy Head Boys and Mr Thomas at break.”
