A Noble Day for Year 1

Staff in the Pre-Prep were thrilled when 40 knights and dragons arrived at school to greet the Lady, the jester, the cook and a grown up dragon…

As part of their Castles and Knights, Year 1 immersed themselves in their Topic and spent the day learning all about the medieval sport of jousting and even had a go themselves on trikes with collapsible plastic lances. They certainly re-created the atmosphere the tournament would have had long ago! At lunchtime, our noble Year 1 enjoyed a medieval feast in the ‘Great Hall’ and could not believe their luck when they realised there was no cutlery to use!

Later on, they put their craft skills to the test and designed and sewed a knight puppet, ready for decoration at a later date. Thanks go to the Year 1 Team and all the staff at Davenies, including the kitchen staff, who made the day one they will remember for a long time to come – in fact, it was “the best day EVER”, according to the boys!
