Ancient Eqypt Comes to Davenies

Year 2 arrived at school in a sea of black and gold as pharaohs, mummies and goddesses alike for a day immersed in ancient history to consolidate their topic of the Egyptians.

The boys had a fun-filled day starting with 2JP’s assembly where they displayed their impressive knowledge on Ancient Egyptians along with a song they had all learnt which they loved. The boys then completed a variety of activities including making flatbread; decorating a sarcophagus; making a clay scarab beetle; painting and decorating a mummified cat and finally completing a collaborative piece of art. The boys also had the opportunity to learn more about Tutankhamun including how Howard Carter managed to locate his tomb – a story which fascinated the boys. The day ended with an Egyptian movie whilst the boys eagerly tucked into their flatbreads! A busy but very productive day which some boys claimed to be ‘the best day ever!’
