Bedtime Stories for World Book Day
Staff and boys alike celebrated World Book Day with a ‘Bedtime Stories’ theme, which encouraged them to come to school in our pyjamas! And, coupled with an author visit, a book mark competition and book-related activities galore, the day did not disappoint!
The day started with a World Book Day assemblies, where everyone enjoyed seeing all the costumes, particularly seeing the staff in their pyjamas! The School community shared its enthusiasm for books and boys and staff talked about their favourite stories. Headmaster, Mr Thomas, revealed the winners of the bookmark competition, and prizes were awarded to winners in Pre-Prep, Junior School, Middle School and Senior School. All boys and staff were given a bookmark featuring one of the winning designs, to take home.
The older boys then enjoyed workshops with our visiting author, Robin Thomas, while the younger boys were challenged with World Book Day activities in the classroom, with quizzes, scavenger hunts, cosy corners and plenty of bedtime stories.
The Library was transformed into a ‘Bedtime zone’ at lunchtime, and the boys enjoyed building reading dens with blankets and pillows, and reading bedtime stores under the twinkle of fairy lights.
