U13B v Thorpe House

Davenies met Thorpe House in a thrilling encounter of two fantastic teams. Jack gives us his account of the match…

Thorpe opened the scoring with a corner; Davenies’ keeper, Ayush, made the initial save but it was not enough as they hacked the ball into the net. An ugly goal but a goal all the same, not much Davenies could have done about it.

Davenies were quick to respond with a penalty. In a moment of error from Thorpe with one of their own handballing the ball in the box, Davenies were the men of the moment. Ryan was to take this penalty, he fired the ball down the middle tricking the keeper into diving to the side to level the score. It was a cool and calm penalty.

At half-time,  Davenies welcomed Michael onto the pitch whilst George went off. Thorpe came next, scoring a goal just after half-time. It was a powerful strike after a series of great passes; the ball just passed Ayush’s glove, it was unstoppable. Then, in a lapse of thought from Thorpe, there was yet another handball in the box. Max took this penalty, finding the top corner ; a great penalty taken and once more the scores were level.

With around 15 minutes left of play, Thorpe scored once again. A thundering strike from well outside the box and the ball found the top corner. A great strike. It was then up to Davenies to find a goal to level the scores and the team did not disappoint. After a long throw from Joe, the ball fell to the feet of Ryan. Having left the defenders behind, it was just a matter of finishing. Ryan slid the ball in at the keeper’s near post. An outstanding goal!

In the dying embers of the game, Davenies had one last chance to grasp the match. But eventually it all came to nothing as the Thorpe keeper made a great save. The ball went into touch and the full-time whistle was blown.

Half Time score= 1-1

Full Time score= 3-3
