Davenies Athletes Shine at London Regional Athletics Event!
On Monday, members of the Davenies athletics squad competed in this year’s London Prep Schools Athletics Championships, an event that brings together talented young athletes from across the region. For those in Years 6-8, it also offered the exciting opportunity to qualify for the National Prep Schools Athletics Finals in July.
Held at the Thames Valley Athletics Stadium in Eton, the standard of competition is always exceptionally high, and this year was no exception. Davenies was proudly represented by 11 boys, each giving their all in their respective events.
We are delighted to share some excellent individual results and celebrate a new school record!
Year 5 Highlights
- Xander Arentz delivered a standout performance by winning the U11 100m in a time of 14.36 seconds, competing against a field of 32 athletes. He also secured 2nd place in the U11 High Jump with a jump of 1.20m. Congratulations, Xander!
- Monty Williams impressed in the U11 200m, making the final and finishing in 4th place with a time of 30.94 seconds.
Year 6
- Milo Boyle qualified for the 100m final, finishing 7th overall in a strong field.
Year 7 – A Record-Breaking Moment
We are thrilled to announce a new school record from one of the most exciting races of the day. Kirav Khurana finished 2nd in the 1500m final with a remarkable time of 4:48.47 minutes. This performance shattered the previous Davenies school record of 4:55.9 minutes, set by R. Smith in 1990-an outstanding achievement that ends a 35-year reign. As a result of this magnificent achievement, Kirav has been selected for the London Team at the National Prep School Athletics Championships in Birmingham on Wednesday 2nd July.
Congratulations to all the boys who competed and represented Davenies with such determination and pride. We now look forward to the Senior School Sports Day later in the term.
