Lunchtime Concert Strikes a Chord

With solos, collaborative pieces and even two instruments played by the same boy during one song, the first Lunchtime Concert of the year was a great success!

The audience of adoring family members were entertained with some solos by Beethoven, Marsh, Marshall and Horner, and were treated to a variety of traditional songs including the Junior Choir performing a jazz arrangement of ‘Land of the Silver Birch’. Impressively – and a first for Davenies – Aran (Year 5) performed ‘My Heart Will Go On’ on both the recorder and the violin! He showed great fluency with both of these very different instruments. The Concert concluded with our fantastic Senior Chorale singing ‘Skyfall’ by Adele Adkins in stunning three-part harmony.

Well done to all of our musicians involved for their fantastic contributions with this. To begin this academic year with this level of brilliance provides much excitement for the many concerts to come here at Davenies. A special thank you to our fantastic team of peripatetic teachers for always striving to reach outstanding standards. We look forward to holding our next Lunchtime Concert on Tuesday 12 November.
