Year 1’s Day on the Farm
Year 1 spent a memorable day at a working organic farm where their learning was inspired by the story of The Little Red Hen.
Just like in the story from the boys’ learning in the classroom, Year 1 discovered the journey of turning wheat into bread and explored the wider process of how food travels from farm to fork. Taking their learning to Rushall Farm, they also had the exciting opportunity to learn about the vital role of bees in pollination and even observed a bee hive in action, witnessing first-hand how these incredible creatures support our ecosystems. Their adventure continued with a walk through the woods, where they met turkeys, chickens, and were even introduced to a newly born calf, just hours old.
The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the bumpy trailer ride through the farm, giving everyone a real taste of farm life! Despite a heavy downpour and distant rumbles of thunder, the boys’ spirits remained high, and the weather only added to the sense of adventure. It was a day packed with learning, exploration, and excitement!
