Year 6 Joint Concert with High March
Showcasing musical collaboration between the two year groups, our Year 6 boys welcomed Year 6 girls from High March for a joint concert in which the audience was treated to a range of solos, including voice, harp and cello from both schools, before joining forces for songs from The Sound of Music.
For the first time since 2019, boys and girls from both schools rehearsed together, as well as spent some social time together at break and lunchtime before the final performance. There was a huge mixture of talent from all, and the reaction from the audience was one of joy as we celebrated their abilities for all to see and hear. The boys playing solo were Thomas Winning (piano), Ashwin Muruguppillai (violin), George Harrison (voice), Edward Whitby (cello), Alex Warby (voice), and Sebastian Shelton (piano). This was then followed by all of the children singing selected songs from the well-known musical The Sound of Music, with solo performances by Nicholas Newell, Rhys Lindeque, Shayan Dawda and Caspar Rhys Evans. Not only did the children join forces, but they were conducted by both the High March’s Head of Music, Mr Herrick Hayes, and our own Head of Music, Mr Nick Pegden at the same time!
It was a real treat of musical talent and teamwork.
