The Illustrator that Visited the Pre-Prep
As part of our World Book Day celebrations, the Pre-Prep enjoyed a visit from illustrator, Garry Parsons, who is famous for illustrating The Dinosaur that Pooped and Dragonsitter series, amongst many others.
Boys in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 started the day with an inspiring, and very funny, assembly about the three things you needed to be an illustrator. The boys were so impressed with Garry’s artistic skills that they burst into spontaneous applause!
Years 1 and 2 were each lucky enough to then have workshop with Garry where he explored the process of illustrating a book before requesting that they each design a cover for a new series of books; however, instead of The Dragonsitter, it would be a different creature… We had everything you can imagine from ‘The Gorillasitter’ to the ‘Lemmingsitter’! The boys listened carefully as they learned about how to show scale in a drawing and had great fun coming up with their designs while Garry talked to them about their ideas.
We may have several budding illustrators in our midst!
