Harvest Collection
True to the School’s founding value of a sense of service to others, the generosity of the Davenies community once again yielded a bountiful supply of much needed resources for a local food and clothing bank.
As part of our annual Harvest celebrations, we were once again delighted to support a local foodbank charity, the One Can Trust in High Wycombe whose crucial work provides emergency food aid to families across South Buckinghamshire. In addition, we were also excited to continue to support One Can Clothing Bank, which has been established by members of our parent community here at Davenies. Currently, they help clothe over 100 children a month in the High Wycombe area. During their first School Uniform Bank in the summer, they were able to re-use 90% of the donations. True to our school motto, each striving for the good of all, the Davenies community jumped at the chance to help, donating a plethora of goods needed by members of the community, including food, toiletries and children’s pre-loved warm clothing.
Of the donations, Community Support Programme Manager from the One Can Trust, Kim Starkey, said: ‘I just wanted to send an email to say a huge thank you to all the pupils, parents and staff for supporting One Can and collecting food and clothes for us over the Harvest period.’ She continued: ‘As the manager of the community support team and working closely with Sophie Casey on our children’s clothes bank, I was amazed and so thankful for the clothes donations. There were so many items and all in such good condition, it made our life very easy when sorting them! At our last open day, 37 families visited and we were able to help clothe 71 children. The need is very real and we could not do it without the wonderful support of people like you. Thank you!’
