Summer Concert 2025

After a day of all four seasons in one, and our boys rehearsing on the Headmaster’s Lawn through wind, rain and sun, blue skies appeared for annual Summer Concert.

Our staff and parent community came together, with picnics and camping chairs, and watched the widest array of musical performances. Early on, the FoDs Choir wowed us with their ‘Sound of Music’ montage and were then joined on stage by the Chamber Choir for ‘The Circle March’.

For the first time ever Senior Djemebe’s showed us their African Drumming skills and our Rock Band ended the night with a bang and their characterful rendition of ‘We Will Rock You’ – the ties around their heads really made them look the part!

Inbetween, we saw group pieces, solos, performances led by boys and so much more. Ed W, in Year 8, showcased his stunning musical ability as he prepares to go to Wellington College on a Music Scholarship in September, George H sang ‘Waving Through a Window’ which got some great audience participation – George is going to Shiplake on an Art and Drama Scholarship and Josh N treated us to some Jazz Saxophone as he prepares to go to Bloxham School on an Art and Sport Scholarship.

We have a huge number of boys showing an incredibly high level of musical ability and can’t wait to watch them progress over the coming years. Maybe our outgoing Year 8 musicians will act as inspiration and they too will pursue their love of music!

With special thanks to Mr Pegden, Mrs Priestley and our Peripatetic Team for nurturing and develop each individual’s talent and providing constant encouragement. The night really was wonderful.
