Choral Competition at Haileybury

The Chamber Choir had the pleasure of taking part in the annual Choral Competition at Haileybury, where their rendition of ‘Deep River’ earned them 2nd place.

The boys were welcomed with a delicious meal, followed by master classes, rehearsals and performances from Haileybury’s outstanding music scholars. The day was concluded with the concert itself, and all of the choirs involved performed to a very high standard indeed. The Davenies Chamber Choir performed the spiritual ‘Deep River’ arranged by Ben Parry, with the main solo sung by our own music scholar, George Bridges. The results were announced, and we were thrilled to be awarded 2nd place, with Abbotts Hill achieving 1st place. Afterwards, all of the schools celebrated the event by singing ‘Why We Sing’ by Greg Gilpin. The sound was incredible, and it was an experience that the boys will never forget.
