Gritty and Enthusiastic Races at MTs’

The sun shone brightly, as did the athletes at Merchant Taylors’ School’s annual athletics meeting with a number of first place finishers for Davenies athletes.

The event is a lead into the 52nd London Prep Schools Athletics Meeting at the Thames Valley Stadium, Eton on 12 June. This regional qualifier, that requires athletes to reach a certain standard prior to competing, is the stepping stone to the National Athletics Finals in July. Davenies was well represented at Merchant Taylors’ across five year groups with some exceptional performances. Highlights included first places for James Hughes (U13 1500m), George Silver (U13 Shot), George Bridges (U13 Long Jump) and Milo Boyle (U10 200m). With a raft of second places and many more gritty and enthusiastic races, it was a very worthwhile event offering the boys some real competition and athletics experience.

Well done to all the boys who competed and represented Davenies so well, both on and off the track.
