Healthy Living Workshops

Boys in Years 1, 3 and 5 welcomed A-life for impactful hands-on workshops to consolidate their PSHE studies about healthy living.

A-life, a leading provider of health and wellbeing workshops for schools, came to Davenies with lots of practical equipment to illustrate the importance of eating a balanced diet, drinking water, regular exercise and keeping safe from possible hazards in the home and at school. Year 1 and 3 touched on the Science curriculum with anatomy, food groups and looking after our teeth. The boys loved the opportunity to move between 20 different stations, answering challenges and working in teams to solve the puzzles.

A-life also delivered a workshop to Year 5, introducing them to the dangers of drugs and alcohol. The boys were given several facts and figures, plus took part in several interactive games to reflect on the risks associated with drugs. They discussed the challenges faced by governments in policy making and the importance of making sensible decisions on an individual level. These topics also overlap with important PSHE discussions about peer pressure and general safety.

The boys completed their sessions by thinking of ways they can personally live a healthier lifestyle based on the workshop suggestions, so we hope they returned home full of ideas!
