Year 8 Explore Coventry Cathedral for ACE Day
With a focus on understanding an active place of worship, Year 8 explored the themes of Conflict, Peace and Reconciliation through a fascinating guided tour of Coventry Cathedral for their ACE Day experience.
Bombed during WW2, Year 8 enjoyed visiting Coventry Cathedral – a beacon for peace and reconciliation. They enjoyed a tour around the old Cathedral, whilst learning about the Coventry blitz and how from the ashes a new church was built. Furthermore, the tour outlined why Coventry Cathedral is unique and examined uses of symbolism in the newly built church. In the afternoon, they had a practical workshop and examined artwork from some resident artists. Pupils were as usual, inquisitive, knowledgeable and courteous.
