We are absolutely delighted to be celebrating a truly exceptional year of scholarship success, with 19 boys in Years 7 and 8 achieving an impressive 22 awards across Academic, Music and Sport.
This year’s achievements include:
- 8 Academic Scholarships
Merchant Taylors’ School, Haileybury, Leighton Park, Shiplake - 4 Music Scholarships
Haileybury, Berkhamsted, Shiplake - 7 Sports Scholarships and 3 Sports Exhibitions
Shiplake, Haileybury, LVS, Bradfield
These highly sought after awards are a testament to the boys’ intellectual curiosity, creativity, athleticism and determination. Yet what makes their success truly outstanding is the context in which it has been achieved. Life in Years 7 and 8 at Davenies is wonderfully busy, which brings great opportunity, but also challenge. Alongside preparing for demanding scholarship assessments, the boys have continued to throw themselves into every aspect of school life: sitting internal exams, completing DAS projects, representing the school and external clubs in sporting fixtures, rehearsing for the Senior Production, performing in the Gala Concert, working towards Music and LAMDA examinations, and fulfilling leadership and Peer Mentor roles – and that’s just this term! Balancing all of this requires not only talent, but also passion, dedication and a genuine love of learning.
Mr Thomas, Headmaster, said
“The results of our Years 7 and 8 boys in their scholarship applications are a testament to their efforts, talents and the hard work that goes in from every member of our school community. Central to this success is the stretch and challenge they receive in the classroom, ensuring every boy is supported to reach his full potential and is prepared as fully as possible for life beyond Davenies. The final two years allow the boys to develop their confidence, build their skills and knowledge, and experience leadership opportunities that will last them a lifetime. We are extremely proud of their achievements.”
Congratulations to all our scholars – they should be proud not only of their awards, but also the hard work and enthusiasm that was required along the way.
