Barbados Cricket Tour 2026

For 20 pupils, the Easter holidays started a couple of days early as they set off on this year’s cricket tour to the Caribbean island of Barbados. Two touring squads enjoyed ten days in paradise, competing in fixtures against both schools and cricket clubs, alongside cultural excursions and time spent enjoying swimming pools and golden beaches.
The tour successfully combined sport and culture, bringing boys together as part of a touring party while also connecting pupils from our host schools and clubs, as well as staff, through the power of sport and a shared love of cricket. This was Davenies’ second trip to Barbados post-COVID and provided a valuable opportunity to reconnect with friends from the previous tour while also building new relationships along the way.
Each team played five competitive fixtures. As expected, the standard of cricket on the island was high, with several teams boasting Under-13 internationals within their ranks. The opportunity for our pupils to test themselves in a new environment against quality opposition was invaluable, and the fixtures produced memorable moments and some exceptional cricket throughout.
The demanding cricket schedule was balanced with a number of well-planned rest days and cultural experiences, allowing the boys to explore the island and learn more about the rich history of sport and culture in Barbados. Highlights included an inspiring tour of the iconic Kensington Oval, a Jeep Safari covering the length and breadth of the island, a catamaran cruise down the west coast with the chance to swim with turtles, and a day relaxing on the beach at The Boatyard in Carlisle Bay.
The busy ten days will live long in the memories of all involved. The boys should be immensely proud of their performances on the field, their conduct throughout the tour, and the lasting stories and memories they will undoubtedly treasure for a lifetime.
