Blue Pig Café Open for 2024/25 Business
On a chilly Friday morning, 12 boys set out for the first Blue Pig Café of the academic year. Here, Alex recounts his experience of running the Café, which is integral to our Year 8 experience at Davenies…
When the boys and I arrived, we were greeted with tubs of bacon and many trays of pain au chocolat. We would have to cut the bacon, put them into the buns and wrap them up ready to be sold and eaten. Time was not on our side but, eventually, the bacon baps and us boys made it out to the Gate and we were quickly assigned roles. It was not long before our first customer arrived; and with that the start of the first Blue Pig Café! We faced many difficulties. The first of which being the card reader… being unable to use some of the card readers was the first hurdle; that was quickly overcome, however, and we managed to share the card readers amongst us. After the throng of people died down and we had served our last customer we felt as if we had done very well, and we were ready to embark on the school day ahead of us. Thank you to Thomas Franks for donating all of the bacon – we could not have done it without them.
