ISGA Success for Davenies Gymnasts

Davenies took two teams to the National ISGA 4-Piece Competition at Habs Boys School where the U11s retained the title for a second year!

The boys had to perform two different floor routines: one was a National Set Floor, and the other was a voluntary routine composed with the required elements. Additionally, they completed two vaults—the national set vault, which involved a handstand off a springboard onto crash mats, and another vault over the vaulting horse.

The U9 team, comprising of Joshua, Daniel, Otto, Behamin, Arthur and Finlay, confidently executed their routines, demonstrating both skill and composure. Otto stepped in at the last minute to vault for the team and delivered a beautifully long through vault, boosting the team’s score. Arthur, who has been diligently working on his flexibility, managed to get his nose down onto his knees in his pike fold for his floor routine. Finn achieved the highest score among the Davenies boys for his handstand flat-back. Daniel and Joshua performed consistently throughout the competition, placing in the top five and earning additional medals. Collectively, the U9s placed 2nd, with Daniel placing 3rd individually and Joshua 4th.

The experienced Under-11 team of Jonathan, Mishay, Rex, Sebastian, Arun and Xander, was determined to defend their title. Leading the charge were Year 6 gymnasts Jonathan and Mishay, who brought a wealth of experience to the event. Mishay debuted a new skill, a handspring over the vault, managing his nerves well to execute it successfully. The set vault judge personally commended Mishay for his impressive score of 9.8 out of 10 (!). Arun stepped in at the last minute to compete in the vault, contributing to the team’s overall performance. Rex delivered two well-presented and polished floor routines.

As a team, the U11s retained their title, achieving 1st place overall, securing the National Team Title for the second consecutive year. Mishay narrowly missed out on the individual title, finishing in 2nd place by just 0.1 points. Special recognition goes to Sebastian and Xander, who finished in joint 5th place overall.
