Mr Thomas is a Published Author!

Boys in Years 5-8 enjoyed an author visit from a very familiar face… Mr Robin Thomas returned to Davenies on World Book Day as a published author!

Mr Thomas, who retired from his position as Head of PE at Davenies last summer after 18 years’ service, shared his secrets as to how a PE teacher goes about becoming an author and his advice for writing a book. He revealed that he starts with the final sentence or word of the book, and creates the story from there. His first published book, The Adventures of Frankie the Puffin, was published in September 2024 and the boys loved hearing extracts from the book and were inspired to have a go at story writing themselves, collaborating to create their very own Frankie the Puffin story! They also took part in a true or false trivia game, to test their Frankie knowledge, and Robin also took the time to sign the boys’ copies of his book, as well as catch up briefly.

Our sincere thanks go to Mr Thomas for remembering his old friends at Davenies, and to the boys for their enthusiasm and creativity.  We are looking forward to following the future adventures of Frankie the Puffin!
