Carols at Christmas
The Davenies community enjoyed wonderful performances of some festive Carols to put everyone in the spirit of Christmas.
Within the beautiful setting of St Mary and All Saints Church, boys in Years 5 – 8 sang their hearts out to some traditional and popular hymns in English and French. Highlights included ‘Oh Holy Night’ performed by the Chamber Choir with the Friends of Davenies Choir, and ‘The Christmas Canon’ (based on Pachelbel’s canon), with all boys singing in canon with the orchestra. William (Year 8) sang the first verse unaccompanied in ‘Once in Royal David’s City’, and Charlie (Year 5), William (Year 5), and George (Year 7) sang some beautiful solos in the musical theatre piece ‘Christmas in New York’.
The Davenes community was also serenaded by the tranquil sounds of the Senior Handbells team, led by Ms Rusmanis and the cello trio led by Mrs Ratcliffe, who performed ‘Christmas Concerto’ by Corelli Op 6 No 8 last movement pastorale.
