Over £23,000 Raised for Worthy Causes

Boys, staff, the members of the Friends of Davenies joined together in assembly to reflect on school fundraising achievements from the previous year.

With the support of the Friends of Davenies (FoD), collectively the Davenies community raised over £23,000 in the academic year 2021/22 for various charities, as well as provided several non-monetary donations to worthy causes such as local schools, hospitals and the One Can Trust.  Everyone contributed and enjoyed the events whilst helping other people in need. Individual amounts raised for each House charity including Cook raising £3,147 for The Christian Eye Foundation, Drake raising £3,223 for Young Minds, Scott raising £4,438 for Go Beyond and Shackleton raising £3,736 for Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity. It was wonderful to welcome Alex from the Christian Eye Foundation for this occasion too, who took the opportunity to tell the boys how their efforts will enhance the lives of others.

The assembly was a great opportunity to reflect on the selfless efforts of all, in which our school motto – each striving for the good of all  – was at the fore. It also brought back fond memories of the past events, motivating boys and staff for this year’s charity challenges. So far this year, Cook has raised a significant total for Diabetes UK and Scott has assembled masses of donations for One Can Trust and Wycombe Hub.  Still to come will be events to raise money for Drake’s chosen charity, Cancer Research, and Shackleton’s chosen charity, Autistica.  In addition to the House initiatives, we also have a full school programme including donating second-hand equipment to local causes and occasional ad-hoc events.

Thank you to all our Davenies families for their continued enthusiasm for our charity initiatives.
