IAPS Triathlon Championships

Ten boys represented Davenies at the IAPS Triathlon Championships at Monkton Prep near Bath where the competition was exciting and full on.

After briefings and the all-important transition set-ups were complete each age group race started in the pool – a ‘snake’ start with racing chip attached to your left ankle. Out of the pool and into the sunshine, a barefoot 100m run, removing hat and goggles to enter the first transition to bikes. The ‘run with bike’ out of transition leads to the bike course – several challenging laps to complete with a tough uphill section – then it’s back into transition to prepare for the run section. Water intake was key, as the sunshine proved too much for some. The Davenies contingent were in competitive mood, however, each completing the grueling triathlon challenge in impressive style. Well done to all the boys who took part. It was a great experience and one that might just be the spark to take them to the next level!
