Success at the Division 10 Swimming Finals 2022
The Division 10 Finals brought together six boys’ teams in an end of season gala at Haberdashers’ Aske’s Boys School ,where the six lane, 25m pool with electronic touch pads added a heightened level of expectation and drama to proceedings.
After some early technical issues, the Davenies’ swimmers got into their stride (stroke) and produced some valiant results amidst some strong competition. The Year 6 boys, whose enthusiasm throughout this season has been undiminished, stayed the course well with several personal best results. Their commitment and camaraderie is a great credit to them. The Year 4 and 5 boys matched each other in terms of results; with two swimmers in each event, both counting in the overall totals, it is important that both swimmers compete in their respective heats for the valuable higher placings; the fewer points the better! Davenies showed their strength in depth across the eight swimmers in each year group team. The results show that the coveted trophies for Year 4 and 5 will be heading to Davenies. What a brilliant achievement! In a comeback year, post Covid, it has not always been easy to regroup and rebuild. Congratulations to them and well done to all swimmers that have competed in the Division 10 galas this year, several of whom stepped into fill gaps at short notice – further evidence that the pool of swimmers we can call onto swim at this level is not exhaustible. All your efforts have been noted and I thank you for your improving organistaion and commitment to squad sessions and gala days.
