U13B v Thorpe House

As kick off began, the squad put in a real shift, gaining as much possession as possible and persevering through every challenge. Unluckily, Thorpe House managed to squeeze a goal in, however, it didn’t lower Davenies’ spirits. Davenies made some great plays, and some great runs were made. This led to the captain, Peter Sumner, managing a high quality finish, which equalised the game at 1-1. As the game progressed, the boys kept winning challenges, and all round the play was excellent. Following a great run from William Lindeque, he made a great pass to Henry Irlam, who had volunteered to play for the Bs from the As, and had managed to put Davenies in the lead at 2-1, just before the half time whistle.

After half time, and Peter’s supportive and reflective talk, the squad were always running onto the ball, applying constant pressure off every throw and pass, which gained them a lot of possession. Henry Irlam managed to win the ball off one of Thorpe’s players, and shifted the boys up to 3-1. Many excellent challenges were made by all the boys, especially from the joint Men of the Match, Ralph Bellwood and Ben Hobbs, keeping their spirits high and their energy equally.

Following the boy’s excellent performance, the final score was Davenies 3-1 Thorpe House.
